Visual and Circulatory Biophysics
Visual Research focuses on purified gene products of the vertebrate retinal rod and those protein ensembles and processes that support visual excitation and light adaptation processes as observed in the intact photoreceptor cell. Circulatory research has two foci:
- Devising new and more effective ways to store red cells for longer time periods with less deterioration
- Utilizing the evolutionary accomplishments of red blood cells in the context of developing novel preventative and therapeutic strategies.
