Multi-Scale Tissue Biomechanics

Principal Investigator: Katherine Yanhang Zhang

The Multi-Scale Tissue Biomechanics Lab was founded in 2006 within the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at Boston University. The lab includes a wet lab and computational facilities for characterization and modeling of the mechanical behavior of soft biological tissues and composites at multi-scale. Research in this lab integrates the knowledge in biology, nonlinear solid mechanics, and finite element modeling, especially of complex materials and constitutive behavior. Through our research, we hope to provide insights on understanding the relationship between microscopic biological processes and changes in macroscopic tissue mechanics due to diseases.
