General Information

The Biology Media Center has two flatbed and one slide scanner for scanning of photographs/documents, slides, and laboratory results (gels or X-OMAT prints).

CanoScan 5000F (For Document Scanning)

This is our flatbed scanner. It is capable of generating high quality scans of photographs, books, and other flat documents. It is available by appointment. Instructions are posted next to the scanner. You will need a floppy, ZIP disk, or blank CD-R to store any files you scan. This scanner is reserved for Media Center personnel only- make an appointment with one of our staff.

Astra 2400S (Scanning Lab Media)

To scan laboratory media, including gels, X-OMAT prints, DNA sequencing data, or Image Quant scans, you may use the Astra 2400S. You do not need to make an appointment to use this scanner, but there is a "first come, first serve" policy. Instructions are posted next to the scanner.

Artix Scan 4000t (Slide Scanning)

This is a high resolution slide scanner. If you need slides scanned, please make an appointment. The typical slide takes 1-3 minutes to scan. You will need a ZIP disk, floppy, or blank CD-R to store scanned files.
