Each year, approximately 100 Biology undergraduates work in faculty research laboratories.

Kiruba Dharaneeswaran (kneeling) works with Prof. Richard Primack. Here, he is conducting botanical research at the Arnold Arboretum in Boston. Kiruba's research has been supported by UROP.

Melissa Chin (standing) and Kate Coleman (seated) are working in Prof. Thomas Gilmore's laboratory. Melissa is investigating the molecular basis of lymphoma. She is a Beckman Scholar supported by the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation. Kate is studying the regulation of the immune response and is supported by UROP.

Anya Yershov works in Prof. Gloria Callard's laboratory. She studies estrogen receptors in zebrafish. Her research has been support by UROP.

Sinlan Poo has been studying the red-eyed tree frog with Prof. Karen Warkentin. Here, she is looking at a clutch of tree frog eggs. Her research has been supported by a National Science Foundation Summer Research Fellowship.

Channing McLaurin is a researcher in Prof. Pamela Templer's laboratory. He studies the history of nutrients in soil by analyzing pieces of wood such as the one he is holding here. Channing's research has been supported by the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program (SURF).

Lauren Vreeland works in Prof. Jelle Atema's laboratory on the sensory biology of lobsters. Her research is funded by UROP.

Beth Cimini works in Prof. William Eldred's laboratory on signaling pathways involving the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the retina. She is a Beckman Scholar supported by the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation. Boston University was one of only 14 institutions nationwide to receive Beckman Scholar funding in 2005.

Jessica Rogge works in Prof. Karen Warkentin's laboratory on red-eyed tree frogs. Here, she is examining an egg and embryo. Her research is supported by UROP.
