Program in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology
Over the past decade rapidly advancing technologies for analyzing biological and chemical processes have combined with the availability of whole genome sequences to provide exciting new opportunities for research in the biological sciences and major advances in our understanding of biological processes. To provide students with the skills to navigate these exciting discoveries, the interdepartmental Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (BMB) major gives undergraduates a strong foundation in biology and chemistry followed by an opportunity to focus on particular aspects of these disciplines. Our majors also have the opportunity to participate in independent research projects that complement their coursework.
The BMB curriculum provides exceptional preparation for pursuing advanced degrees in the biomedical sciences as well as entering the workforce in the area of biotechnology. Eligible BMB juniors can opt for a combined BA in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and MA in Biotechnology.
For a more detailed listing of courses and requirements for this interdisciplinary degree program, visit the BU Bulletin website.
