Graduates Need To:

  1. Fill out the Intent to Graduate form – you must have filled out the Intent to Graduate form on CAS Advising’s website.
  2. Purchase Regaliaorder online or purchase in-store at Barnes & Noble at BU.
  3. Request disabled seating for your guests (if applicable.)
  4. Take the Senior Survey – the Department needs your feedback & you can enter to win one of twelve (12) $50 gift cards.
  5. Attend a Prep Meeting – we will review the ceremony procedures and practice name pronunciation at this mandatory meeting. Choose one:
    • Friday, May 12, from 12:00-1:30pm (SCI 113)
    • Friday, May 19, from 12:00-1:30pm (SCI 113)


Biology (& All Specializations) Convocation
Saturday, May 20, 2017, 9:00 a.m.
Case Center Gymnasium

At this ceremony, graduates will have their name read, walk across the stage, pose for individual photography, and pick up their diploma.

Tickets: no tickets are required for the Biology Convocation and there is no limit on the number of guests graduates can bring (though we do expect about five guests per graduate).

Seating: Seats are first-come, first-served starting at 8:30 am. Seating for guests with disabilities is available. Wheelchairs are not available for rent, so guests should plan to bring their own.

Dress: Graduates should wear cap and gown.

Duration: Approximately 1 – 1.5 hours + diploma pickup and reception afterward (reception features beverages and pastries).

Photography & Videography: A photographer will be present to snap a photo of each graduate. The ceremony will be filmed by a videographer – DVD ordering information is here.

All-University Commencement

Tickets: No tickets are required for the All-University Commencement ceremony and there is no limit on how many guests a graduate may have.

Seating: Seats are first-come, first-served. It is advised to arrive no later than noon. While general seating is not reserved, there are designated areas for guests with disabilities.

Dress: Graduates should wear cap and gown.

Duration: Approximately 2 hours.
