Graduates Need To:

  1. Fill out the CAS Intent to Graduate form you must have filled out this form (preferably one year in advance) in order to graduate.
  2. Purchase Regalia – order online through May 1 for home delivery or purchase in-store at Barnes & Noble at BU.
  3. Request disabled seating for your guests (if applicable).
  4. Take the Senior Survey  the Department needs your feedback & you can enter to win one of twelve (12) $50 Visa gift cards.
  5. Attend a Prep Meeting – we will review the ceremony procedures and practice your name pronunciation at this mandatory meeting. You MUST attend one:


Biology Convocation
Saturday, May 19, 9 a.m.

At this ceremony, graduates will have their names read, they will walk across the stage to receive their diploma, and they will pose for handshake photography.

Tickets: no tickets are required for the Biology Convocation and there is no limit on the number of guests graduates can bring (though we do expect about five guests per graduate).

Seating: Seats are first-come, first-served starting at 8:15 am. Seating for guests with disabilities is available. Wheelchairs are not available for rent on Saturday, so guests should plan to bring their own wheelchair or rent from a local vendor (recommended vendors are listed at the end of this page).

Dress: Graduates should wear cap and gown.

Duration: Approximately 1 – 1.5 hours and reception afterward (reception features beverages, fruit, and muffins).

Photography & Videography: A photographer will be present to take a photo of each graduate receiving his/her diploma. The ceremony will be filmed by a videographer – DVD ordering information is here.

All-University Commencement

Tickets: No tickets are required for the All-University Commencement ceremony and there is no limit on how many guests a graduate may have.

Seating: Seats are first-come, first-served. It is advised to arrive no later than noon. While general seating is not reserved, there are designated areas for guests with disabilities.

Dress: Graduates should wear cap and gown.

Duration: Approximately 2 hours.
