Media Center
The Biology Media Center, located in LSE 631 (24 Cummington Street), and managed by Peter Castellano, provides a range of media services to the department for little or no cost. The services which are available include flatbed scanning, slide scanning, 35 mm slide making, color laser printing, and large format poster printing.
These facilities operate on two platforms (Mac OS and WinXP) in order to handle the varied media formats (Windows is the preferred OS). We also have several state-of-the-art software packages for both MAC/PC platforms. Contact Peter for the most up-to-date information on what is available.
The Media Center operates with a reservation policy. If you need to use the media center services, you should contact Peter via e-mail, or telephone (Ext. 3-8736) to make a reservation. This will ensure that each person can get enough time to complete their project in the fastest possible time frame. If you are going to be working on a large job, particularly posters, please consult with Peter well ahead of time as even the best-planned project can encounter problems in printing.
If using Media Center services that require fees, you must provide Peter with a source number for billing purposes.
To facilitate the availability of these graphics resources, the associated computers are to be used only for Media Center-related purposes and not for general use or e-mail.
