Important Notice: Thank you for your interest in Boston University's summer research opportunities. If you are a current student at Boston University, looking to do summer undergraduate research, please contact our UROP office. At this time, there is no REU summer program 2005 for non-Boston University students. Please contact the NSF REU website for summer programs that will be offered at other institutions: http://www.nsf.gov/home/crssprgm/reu/start.htm.
Program Information The Department of Biology at Boston University (BU) is seeking outstanding undergraduates to participate in its 2004 "NSF-Research Experiences for Undergraduates" (NSF-REU) Program. Our NSF-REU program provides BU students as well as students from other institutions with opportunities to conduct laboratory and field research with faculty in the Department of Biology. Applicants must have completed their junior year (outstanding students who have completed their sophomore year may be considered) and taken at least two semesters of chemistry and two semesters of biology. Applicants from smaller non-research institutions are particularly encouraged to apply. Due to Federal regulations, applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Students selected to participate in this program will work as part of a team, consisting of one or two NSF-REU students and two Boston University scientists, on innovative and integrative research in functional and evolutionary ecology. Each student selected to participate in this 10-week summer program (June 1, 2004-August 6, 2004) will receive a stipend of $3,000 based on an effort of at least 40 hours per week. In addition, housing in apartment-style accomodations at Boston University will be provided by the program. An on-campus meal plan is available for an additional fee but is not required.
