Back to Our Regularly Scheduled Program…
What better way to come back from a few days off than with good news?
The continued growth in support of cycling in the Bay State once again bore fruit at this year’s Bay State Bike Week. According to a MassRIDES email sent out to subscribers, participants “cycled 31,600 miles, burning 1,105,685 calories, and saving 19.2 tons of CO2 which equates to over 2,100 gallons of gasoline.”
The now two-year-old week of celebrating and promoting cycling appears to be strong and picking up steam. The MassCommute Bicycle Challenge garnered a great deal of interest from companies as varied as REI and Harpoon Brewery. The Boston University Medical Campus placed second to the Harvard Longwood (Medical) Campus in the medium size university category while rivals Boston College placed third in the large University category, with MIT and Harvard taking first and second, respectively.
So what does that mean for us here at BU Charles River? Looks like we need to get on the ball and garner enough miles to at least crack the top three next year. So get back into cycling shape, sign up for the Commute Challenge next year, and beat out those Eagles, Beavers, and…Crimson? So how about it, Terriers? Hop on those bicycles.
