Since its beginnings in 2000, the Boston Healing Landscape Project has
actively pursued its mission to help clinicians and others learn about
religious and cultural pluralism in relationship to the world of medicine
and healing traditions, through research, outreach, and the active
dissemination of resources.

In the process, we have built an exceptional network of research
collaborators and community consultants. We have taught hundreds of
individuals from the medical and nursing communities. Our work has provided
valuable resources for educators, students, civic leaders, and the
interested public throughout the United States.

Because we are at a medical center, a project like ours is entirely
dependent on outside funding. We have been fortunate to receive financial
support from the Ford Foundation, while Boston University School of Medicine
has provided us with office space and an institutional home. We are deeply
grateful for this support.

However, our long-term goal is also to ensure the sustainability of our
work. We are doing this in three ways: First, we are developing a masters
program in Medical Anthropology and Cross-Cultural Practice, which will
institutionalize our work and secure its long-term role at BUSM. Second, we
are seeking assistance from foundations and individual donors for ongoing
operating expenses and the development of new programs. Third, we are
working to build an endowed fund.

To sustain and expand our ongoing work we need your assistance. We are a
frugal and fiscally responsible organization. One hundred percent of your
tax-deductible donation will go directly to supporting the Boston Healing
Landscape Project's work. Donations of $100 or more will receive the gift of
a set of Boston Healing Landscape Project note cards. Donations of $500 or
more will receive the gift of the book Religion and Healing in America,
edited by Linda L. Barnes and Susan S. Sered.
