Whelan |
Julia Whelan is Senior Outreach Librarian
at Treadwell Library, Massachusetts General
Hospital, Boston. She is a graduate of Swarthmore
College, holds a Masters degree from the
Graduate School in Library and Information
Science at Simmons, and is a member of the
Academy of Health Information Professionals
at the senior level. She began conducting
research on medicinal herbs as a member
of the Longwood Herbal Taskforce. She also
is team member of the Pediatric Integrative
Medical Education project (funded by a grant
from NCCAM). She teaches a monthly class
at MGH on this topic. In May 2003, she and
Dr. Dvorkin gave a presentation at the national
meeting of the Medical Library Association
titled Plants from Many Healing Landscapes:
Herbal Medicines Used by Diverse Cultures.
She and Dr. Dvorkin have taught together
in classes at Children's Hospital, Massachusetts
College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences,
and at continuing education programs.
