Melissa received a BA in Women's Studies
at Temple. Her initial focus was on the
dynamics of women as healers, the intersection
of religious/spiritual experiences and healing
of individual and community, and the particular
inclusion of Feminist and Queer theory in
the study of health and healing. Her fieldwork
led her to study the impact of HIV/AIDS
among GLBT adolescents and young adults
in Boston African Diaspora, seeking to give
voice to the experiences of a greatly marginalized
community. Melissa has received her Masters
in Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity
School, and intends to pursue doctoral studies.
She is now working for the American Friends
Service Committee.
