Rev.
Gregory G. Groover, Sr. |
Rev. Groover is pastor of the Historic
Charles Street A.M.E. Church in the Roxbury
section of Boston, MA. He has helped to
build the congregational life, increase
participation, and restructure the management
of the church. He currently serves as chairman
of the Political Action and the Nominating
Committee of the Black Ministerial Alliance
and as a charter member of the Board of
Directors of the Ten Points Coalition. Rev.
Groover is leading the effort in establishing
the "Reclaiming Our Youth" project
in Boston, which will connects clergy, judges,
and the justice system.
Rev. Groover formerly served as pastor
of Bright Temple A.M.E. Church in the South
Bronx. His work there was written about
in The New York Times, New York Newsday,
and the book Amazing Grace by Jonathan Kozol
(which was inspired by Mr. Kozol's time
spent with Rev. Groover). He received his
Master of Divinity and Master of Social
Work from Union Theological Seminary and
Columbia University school of Social Work,
respectively.
