Martin Epson

Martin came to the project with a strong interest in traditional healing practices and the role they play in the future of allopathic medical care. Overseas living in Southern Spain and Morocco, the UK, and Puerto Rico introduced him to languages, religions and cultures that were richly diverse. Through his fieldwork, he was able to apply these experiences, examining the role Botanicas serve as centers of complementary and alternative healing, cultural and spiritual guidance and support among Boston African Diaspora communities. With a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service concentrating on US-African Relations, Martin received a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School, and will be going on to Columbia Medical School.
