Kenneth Edelin

Kenneth Edelin is the Associate Dean for Students and Minority Affairs at Boston University School of Medicine. He is a gynecologist/obstetrician who has also served as the Chairman of Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood offers an award in his name. Recipients-including Senator Ted Kennedy-are honored for leadership in reproductive health care and reproductive rights. In receiving the award, Sen. Kennedy praised Kenneth Edelin as "one of the great heros in our cause, a profile in courage whose name today is a symbol of the importance of persevering in a cause we know is right." The term "profile in courage" had previously been applied to the exemplary behavior of certain U.S. Senators throughout American history in the book Profiles in Courage, written by Kennedy's elder brother John F. Kennedy.
