First-Year Students

A Note to First-Year Students…

On behalf of the BU Band’s Program, we would like to welcome you to Boston University! We hope that your college experience is one that provides you with great opportunity and fulfillment. We would like to make sure that you know that the BU Band’s Program is interested in enriching your time at college through music and community.

The BU Bands program is open to all students that want to make music or be a part of the band, regardless of major. We pride ourselves on knowing that every college of the university is represented by the students in our ensembles. We believe that for first-year students, being a part of musical groups comprised of your peers that share the same academic interests and experiences is a wonderful way to acclimate and assimilate to BU.

During these unprecedented times, we are making sure that our ensembles are prepared to operate and provide students with a musical outlet come the fall semester, no matter the circumstance. It is important to note that the band program will be adhering to all guidelines put in place by the university and government officials. As is part of our core values, our top priority is to ensure the health and well-being of our students – we can easily make music fit around that priority. In short, we are committed to keeping our spirit and our music alive throughout the academic year.

Continuing Conversations (Web Meetings)

Over the course of the summer, we will be offering web meetings that will allow all that are interested in any of our ensembles to have conversations with current students and staff about being involved with the BU Bands Program. We will be discussing and taking questions about the details of each ensemble while also addressing how the band program integrates with academic life.
