Winter Percussion Ensemble
Started in 2005, the BU Winter Percussion Ensemble competes in the WGI and NESBA circuits in the Independent Open Class. In less than two years this ensemble has placed in the top 7 in the World Championships in Dayton, Ohio and has been named NESBA Champions.
In addition, the ensemble has become a fan favorite at select hockey games where the group has performed to standing ovations to sell out crowds at Agganis Arena.
The ensemble's staff has included Chris Dufault, Jeff Queen, Allen Joanis, Mike Wasielewski and Rudy Gowern. The ensemble currently has endorsements with both Vic Firth and Zildjian.
Membership in the ensemble is through audition only. Auditions are open to anyone who is 14-22 years old, regardless of whether or not they are a current student at Boston University.
