Special Lunch Talk
Massive star explosions: New results, New instruments

Dr. Sagi Ben-Ami
Weizmann Institute of Science

Tuesday July 1, noon-1pm
CAS 500

Abstract:

In the first part of the talk I will present a study of Type IIb UV spectra taken with the HST, and discuss what can we learn from these novel observations. In the second part of the talk, I will present ULTRASAT, a proposed space mission to undertake the first high-cadence wide-field UV time-domain survey, as well as the SED Machine, an integral field spectrograph built from the bottom up to classify transients.
