Books & Monographs

ASOR publishes three book series:

The first volume of the ASOR Annual (AASOR) appeared in 1920, making it ASOR’s signature publication. The Annual is a medium for the publication of lengthy preliminary or interim archaeological reports or monograph-length studies relating to archaeology in the Near East.

The Archaeological Reports Series (ARS) is devoted to the publication of final excavation reports, surveys and ethnoarchaeological fieldwork. Excavation projects need not be ASOR-affiliated to be considered. The CAARI Monographs are a subseries of the ASOR-ARS and may include conference proceedings.

ASOR's youngest series, the JCS Supplemental Series (JCSSS), was instituted under the editorship of Piotr Michalowski in 2008.

Inactive Series

The currently suspended ASOR Books series, was created to provide a forum for research that is not directly related to the reporting of archaeological fieldwork. Works of general interest to ASOR members as well as symposia and Festschriften are appropriate for consideration in this series. Another inactive series is the BASOR Supplement Series.
