Robert Weller's areas of specialization are in
Chinese religion and ritual, social and political change, environment,
and anthropological theory. His most recent books are Discovering Nature: Globalization
and Environmental Culture in China and Taiwan (2006) and Alternate
Civilities: Democracy and Culture in China and Taiwan (1998). Professor
Weller is currently researching the relations between religion and civil
life among Chinese communities in Malaysia, China, and Taiwan.
