John Schulz primary areas of interest include international reporting and national security affairs, with a regional specialization in China, Afghanistan, East and South Asia.  Since 2002, he has been editor-in-chief of the Global Beat Syndicate, which provides  occasional  op-ed pieces to nearly 400 U.S. and Canadian newspapers and another 150 abroad.
