Esther T. Hu’s teaching and research interests include Victorian literature; Shakespeare; women's and gender studies; religious and Biblical studies; Asian and Asian-American literature; translation; children's literature. She has taught at Cornell University and Chung Yuan University in Taiwan and has been the recipient of several research fellowships and scholarly and teaching prizes. She has published essays on Victorian literature, a translation of a Taiwanese short story, and translated into English Heaven and Earth: The Love Story of General Hu Tsung-nan and President Catherine Hsia-Ti Yeh (Tian Di You You in Chinese, 1965, 1989, 2006). She is writing a book on Christina Rossetti’s religious poetry.
