Sarah Frederick's areas of specialization are
in 20th century Japanese literature and history, relationships between
mass media and modern literature, gender, and culture. Her most
recent publication is Turning
Pages: Reading and Writing Women's Magazines in Interwar Japan (2006). Professor
Frederick is currently working on a project which looks at 20th century
Japanese literature and history through the works of Yoshiya Nobuko (1896-1973).
