Joseph Fewsmith has worked on Chinese elite politics, local governance, and foreign policy for many years.  He is the author of four books, including China Since Tiananmen: The Politics of Transition (2001) and Elite Politics in Contemporary China (2001).  He is also a regular contributor to China Leadership Monitor (www.chinaleadershipmonitor.org), a quarterly on-line journal that analyses the contemporary Chinese political and economic scene.  His articles have appeared in The China Quarterly, Asian Survey, Orbis, The Journal of Contemporary China, and elsewhere.
