EVENT: Conceptions of Democracy on Taiwan and the Chinese Mainland – A presentation by David Lorenzo

How have important leaders of the Republic of China on Taiwan, and democracy activists and others on the Chinese mainland conceptualized democracy? This presentation critically explores democratic discussions on the part of Sun Yat-sen, Chiang Kai-shek, Chiang Ching-kuo, Liu Xiaobo, Wen Jiabao and others in the context of both Western conceptions and traditional Chinese understandings.
