Shannon Smith earned her B.A. in Art History and Studio Art from Hobart and William Smith Colleges. During her time there, Shannon received several awards relating to Studio Art and Art History, including The Arthur Dove Award, Katharine Gracey Merrill ’14 Award, and the Elena Ciletti Endowed Prize. Her senior year, she also received Honors in Studio Art after completing a year-long project focused on printmaking. In addition to Honors, Shannon was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa.

Shannon’s previous job experience includes her time working as a Gallery Assistant at the Davis Gallery of Hobart and William Smith Colleges for two years, where she assisted the Visual Arts Curator in the installation, curation, and reception of each art exhibition. Within her years at the Colleges she also worked as a Teaching Assistant for a Studio Art class, House Manager for the Art & Design house, and studied abroad in Rome, Italy. Her summer internship at the Wayne Art Center in Pennsylvania was instrumental to her decision to pursue a master’s degree. Through this experience she worked as a liaison between studio art classes and day-to-day administrative needs.

I chose the Boston University Arts Administration program because I was drawn to their flexible scheduling that encourages students to maintain a job while still earning a Master’s degree. I look forward to advancing my studies in the classroom and applying those skills I learn to the Boston community and beyond.
