Job: Part-Time Grant Writer

The award-winning New Repertory Theatre seeks a PT Grant Writer to write coherent, organized, and compelling grant proposals for foundations, corporations, and government. The contractor will work with the Development Director and Development Associate and other staff on grant material requirements grant calendars, deadlines, and reports. The Grant Writer is responsible for increasing revenue from the current and new foundation and corporate donors through research and proposal preparation and submission, as well as identification of new prospects.

The broad responsibilities and duties of Grant Writer include:

Maintaining proficient knowledge of the organization’s history and programs
Assisting with the execution of the development department’s strategy
Writing, submitting and managing grant proposals
Collaborating with Director of Development on funder stewardship and cultivation, as needed
Collaborating with Director of Development to compile an annual report
Maintaining records in hard copies and computer databases
Research new funding opportunities through websites, databases, and internet research, with input from the Development Director, members of the Board, and staff
Run reports of prospect/funder activity and track progress
Collaborate with program staff to incorporate program data into proposals and reports
Develop and maintain a broad base of knowledge about topics relevant to New Rep for funding opportunities
Help develop an annual calendar of grant opportunities and reports
Track grant due dates, submissions, funding decision timelines, and communications with funders
Follow up on approved or declined grants, including writing acknowledgment letters to help relationships with foundation and corporate staff
Support the organization’s efforts to advance race equity and inclusivity, expand the audience, build brand awareness, grow contributed revenue and stabilize financials
Assume other tasks and responsibilities as needed

Highly motivated, flexible, able to show initiative and work independently
Highly organized and detailed oriented with exceptional time-management skills
Love of Theatre/Performing Arts, a plus
