We're commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, and event marking the beginnings of the Cold War, with a screening of Andrzej Wajda's KANAL (1956, 91 minutes, English subtitles). The first ever movie made about the Warsaw Uprising, Kanal won the Special Jury Prize at Cannes and launched Wajda on the path to international renown. The film will be introduced by Igor Lukes, Professor of International Relations and History and Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic. The screening is free and open to the public. Organized by the Center for the Study of Europe in collaboration with the Polish Cultural Foundation, Boston.
