There is 1 comment on BU Readies for Title IX Changes to Sexual Misconduct Regulations

  1. As a mother of both a daughter and a son, I wonder why BU is against due process that is addressed in these new guidelines. RBG, who is my hero on the Supreme Court, has even questioned the fairness and the danger of not allowing due process to the accused. Under these Title IX rules, Joe Biden would be expelled from school based on the accusations brought against him under the current Title IX rules. Both women and men need to be heard fairly. I want my daughter safe, but I also don’t want my son wrongfully accused by a woman (or man) based solely on their story alone. The “investigation” they do at universities is minimal and should include cross examination. I’m a feminist, but we can’t believe all women without due process to the accused. We live in a cancel culture where anyone can destroy someone’s life with mere words, whether they are true or not. Why not afford all students due process. I’ll always remember the Duke Lacrosse team and how, through cross examination, they were exonerated when the accuser admitted she lied. Our women absolutely need to be safe, but our sons also need to be heard. This is also a burgeoning issue in the LBGTQ community as well.
