There is 1 comment on Whither Afghanistan after Peace Talks Collapse?

  1. Interesting debate, however it should be understood that Afghan war has now entered it 44th year,if we count the first Russian intervention in 1976.Afghans have almost lost two generation in these egoistic wars, total loss in terms of casualties is 2.5 million,a whole generation of refugees now living in Pakistan and Iran don’t see any future and we are calculating the pros and cons of a US withdrawal. Is 18 years period enough to test any policy or military strategy? In military parlance,we heard of dilution of forces in space(like Operation Barbarossa) and dilution of Hitler’s Panzers in the vast steppes of Russia,in Afghanistan we are witnessing the dilution of the most modern war machine in Time. Like it or not,18 years is enough and instead of torturing and experimenting with Afghans, let them sort out their problems. At least think of the 3rd generation of Afghans now being born in the shanty huts and refugee settlements in Iran,Pakistan and villages of Afghanistan. Let humanity prevail.
