  1. Often to a procrastinator, the task being put off—sometimes even as small as emptying the dishwasher—seems overwhelming. Try dividing it into a series of smaller tasks and perform just one at a time, giving yourself permission to do just that one. Put away the silverware, you can do the glasses later. As mentioned in the article, once you get started you are likely to finish or make a larger dent; you’ll probably move right to the glasses, then the plates, etc. But don’t assume that. Assume you are going to put away the silverware and that’s it. Small, manageable tasks. Even if you do just one at a time, you’ll eventually have the larger task done. I am a master procrastinator and find this method effective.
