There is 1 comment on Franklin Park Zoo Celebrates Centennial

  1. As much as I’d love to celebrate Franklin Park Zoo (for its conservation and education), I also think we should be re-thinking zoos in their entirety. As much as I’d love to think about zoos as being a place that fosters positive experiences surrounding animals (treating them as sentient beings instead of mere food on one’s plate) – I’d love to call attention to how captivity can be quite traumatic to the various animals. Enclosures, such as the ones at Franklin Park Zoo, can lead to stressful behaviors, and this is where my problem of zoos stems from. So as much as I’d like to celebrate Franklin Park Zoo’s Centennial, my heart cannot bear the stress of those distraught beings.
