National Poster Retrospecticus – Friday August 1st from 6-11pm

National Poster Retrospecticus Returns to Boston

National tour brings over 300 gig-posters across the US

The Boston University Art Gallery proudly presents the Boston homecoming of a massive collection of hand-printed gig-posters on Friday August 1st from 6-11pm! The National Poster Retrospecticus showcases over 100 of the most prominent poster designers in the country. The show includes heavy hitters like Aaron Draplin, Daniel Danger and Aesthetic Apparatus. Posters for bands like Modest Mouse, Phish, Wilco and hundreds of others will be on display for the public, free of charge.

“We’ve loaded up the van with a backstock of thousands of posters. We’ve been making overnight drives to each city and setting up the shows for one- night-only.” says John Boilard, producer of the tour. “We’re stoked to follow up the success of last year’s national tour. We hope to make this another year of adventure, hard work and fun. It’s rad that we get to team up with Boston University at home in Boston!” he concludes. After months of meticulous planning and curation this national tour hit the road on April 29th and is visiting eight cities.

About the National Poster Retrospecticus

With roots that go back as far as 2006, the current format of the show took shape in the Spring of 2012. Our mission is to celebrate posters and the made- by-hand aesthetic. We want to help spread that enthusiasm around the world. The National Poster Retrospecticus is produced and curated by John Boilard.
