Elements, Rudiments and Principles

November 8, 2013 – December 20, 2013,

Opening Reception on November 7th, 2013 at 6:00 PM

Elements, Rudiments and Principles is a group show that addresses visual expressions of the spiritual and brings together work from various disciplines including photography, painting, sculpture and new media. The works included in this exhibition are at times humorous and political, while at other moments works reflect a search for purity in shape and material.  An investigation of the ritual through pronounced balance, repetition, text, geometry, personal methodologies, invented rules and values of making produce various approaches to making the undefinable and invisible visible.  This exhibition is organized in collaboration with Boston University’s Assistant Professor of Painting, Dana Frankfort.  Artists in the exhibition include Brian Belott, Peter Coffin, Matt Ducklo, Frank Haines, Xylor Jane, Sister Corita Kent, Benny Merris, Matt Mullican, Heather Rowe, Hanna Sandin, Erin Shirreff, and Betty Tompkins.
