Dr. Lisa de Saxe Zerden – inducted into the Frank Porter Graham Graduate and Professional Student Honor Society
Dr. Lisa de Saxe Zerden, a BU graduate and former CARS Research Assistant, has been inducted into the Frank Porter Graham Graduate and Professional Student Honor Society in recognition of her outstanding service provided to the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
The Frank Porter Graham Honor Society was founded in 1990 and recognizes outstanding service provided to the University and community by graduate and professional students enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Further, it recognizes the contributions of faculty, staff, and friends of UNC who have made significant contributions above and beyond their job description to the development of graduate and professional education at our University.
Sandy Cohen: CARS Graduate Student
Mr. Sandy (Alexander) Cohen, former Center for Addictions Research and Services Research Assistant, recently accepted a position at The Institute for Healthcare Improvement as a Research Associate for their Results & Evaluation team.

Ivy Krull, CARS Doctoral Candidate, recently completed three presentations of Center work at the Addictions Health Services and Research conference in Fairfax, VA.

Domestic Violence Training Completed: February, 2011
Ms. Mindy D’Ippolito, Center for Addictions Research and Services Research Assistant, recently attended a Domestic Violence training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. This training focused on the legal options/responses from incident to prosecution.

Quarterly Meeting Attended: 1st Quarter, 2011
Mr. Sandy (Alexander) Cohen, Research Assistant at the Center for Addictions Research & Services and Intern at the Joint Committee on Mental Health & Substance Abuse in the Massachusetts State Legislature, attended the first quarterly meeting in 2011 of the Massachusetts Interagency Council on Substance Abuse and Prevention, featuring honorary guest speaker Frances M. Harding, Director of the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention at Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Student Presentations: 2010
Masters Students Ms. Nika Ancukiewicz, and Ms. Clelia Beltrame, Mr. Steven Garte-Wolf, and Doctoral Candidate Ms. Ivy Krull completed presentations on new substance abuse research in 2010. Conferences included: Addictions, APHA, AHSR and the TCE-HIV SAMHSA Conference.
