Meredith Munn & Carolyn Reckhow to present at the APHA 2014 Annual Meeting

Ms. Munn, a CARS Projects Coordinator, will be presenting a poster on her paper entitled  “Differences among Latino heterosexual and sexual minority clients in residential substance use treatment: A preliminary study” at the American Public Health Association (APHA) 2014 Annual Meeting this November in New Orleans, LA.

Ms. Reckhow, a CARS Research Assistant, will also be giving a poster presentation at APHA 2014 on her paper entitled “Evaluation of GoogleMaps Engine as a Tool for HIV Outreach in Difficult to Reach Communities”.

Meredith Munn & R. Mitchell Thomas: Recent Graduates

Ms. Munn and Mr. Thomas, both CARS Project Coordinators, were recently honored at Boston University’s School of Social Work 2014 commencement. In addition to their recently earned M.S.W.’s, both students plan on continuing their studies at BU School of Public Health and are expected to recieve their M.P.H.’s in 2015.

R. Mitchell Thomas-Dean’s Award Recipient

R. Mitchell Thomas was recently honored with the Dean’s Award for Leadership at the BU School of Social Work 2014 commencement ceremony. The award is given to a student who has demonstrated outstanding merit and proven leadership in the classroom, field, and community.

Dr. Lisa de Saxe Zerden – inducted into the Frank Porter Graham Graduate and Professional Student Honor Society

Dr. Lisa de Saxe Zerden, a BU graduate and former CARS Research Assistant, has been inducted into the Frank Porter Graham Graduate and Professional Student Honor Society in recognition of her outstanding service provided to the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

The Frank Porter Graham Honor Society was founded in 1990 and recognizes outstanding service provided to the University and community by graduate and professional students enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Further, it recognizes the contributions of faculty, staff, and friends of UNC who have made significant contributions above and beyond their job description to the development of graduate and professional education at our University.

Sandy Cohen: former CARS Graduate Student

Mr. Sandy (Alexander) Cohen, former Center for Addictions Research and Services Research Assistant, recently accepted a position at The Institute for Healthcare Improvement as a Research Associate for their Results & Evaluation team.
