Serena Smith-Patten’s public health social work interests include promoting the wellbeing of vulnerable populations through direct clinical practice, program intervention, evaluation, & dissemination and community-based participatory research. She has worked domestically and abroad to cultivate knowledge of complex & intergenerational trauma in young children and their caregivers, adults living with comorbid disorders and trauma-informed care in non-traditional settings.  Ms. Smith-Patten received her B.A. degree in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, is currently pursuing an M.P.H. in Social and Behavioral Sciences and an M.S.W. in Clinical Social Work at Boston University and in 2014 completed a certificate in trauma at BUSSW.
