The History of Nursing
Archives contains an extensive book collection, as well as
the personal and professional papers of nursing leaders; records
of educational institutions, public health groups and nursing
organizations; and histories of various American and foreign
schools of nursing. It was established in 1966, with help
from a United States Public Health Service grant and the financial
support of the Boston University School of Nursing. The books
and manuscripts in the History of Nursing Archives document
the evolution and contribution of the nursing profession in
the fields of public health and military history.
Past support from the Nursing Archives
Associates has enabled the History of Nursing Archives to
catalog, preserve, and make materials accessible to researchers
and scholars as well as to produce exhibitions and publications.
Each year, at our Annual Meeting, we present a speaker and
host a reception for all members of the Nursing Archives Associates.
