Be Our Guest. Be a Friend.
Become a Friend of the Libraries of Boston
University. Membership includes a pass to our full season
of events, including our Speaker Series, exhibition openings,
cocktail receptions and other special events. Speakers, whose
papers are a part of the Howard Gotlieb Archival Research
Center, are some of the most notable and distinguished achievers
in their fields. Events provide them the opportunity to both
discuss their personal triumphs, private anecdotes and early
careers, and answer questions from the audience. Recent speakers
have included journalists David Halberstam and Marie Brenner,
theater critic John Lahr, playwright Craig Lucas, actor Edward
Herrmann, actress Angela Lansbury, editor Robert Gottlieb,
and writers Peter Benchley, Philip Caputo and Sue Grafton.
The setting is relaxed and events are an excellent place not
only to meet the celebrity guest, but to catch up with old
friends and network to make new ones.
Membership in the Friends provides a wide range of support
for the Center’s activities, including acquisition of
rare book and manuscript collections and most recently, our
Student Discovery Seminar Outreach Series. Without sponsorship
from the Friends, much of what we do would not be possible.
The Center contains the papers of some 2000 outstanding individuals
in the fields of literature, criticism, journalism, drama,
music, dance, film, civil rights, diplomacy and national affairs.
