ACTOR EDWARD HERRMANN
TO SPEAK AT BOSTON UNIVERSITY
BOSTON – Edward Herrmann, film,
theatre, and television actor, will speak about his life and
career at the annual meeting of the friends of the Libraries
of Boston University on Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at 6:15 p.m.
Most recently known for his role as Richard
Gilmore on the WB television series Gilmore
Girls, Edward Herrmann’s career in acting has
spanned more than thirty years. He starred on the big screen
in such films as The Paper Chase,
The Great Gatsby, The Purple Rose of Cairo, and Nixon.
He earned an Emmy nomination for Eleanor
and Franklin, and recently received another nomination
for his work on the television show The
Practice. He has also appeared in Law
and Order, Oz, and as narrator of A&E’s History
Lost and Found. His work on the Broadway stage includes
Mrs. Warren's Profession,
for which he won a Tony Award; The
Philadelphia Story, which earned him a Tony Award nomination;
and Plenty, which won him
the Drama Leagues’s Distinguished Performance Award
and another Tony nomination.
His personal archive is housed at the
Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center along with the archives
of over 2000 other notable figures of the twentieth century.
