| An early edition of the Penseés
of Blaise Pascal, printed in Paris in 1670. |
This collection of one hundred and fifty
books by and about the French philosopher and mathematician
Blaise Pascal was formed by Mrs. Mary Arms Edmonds and presented
to the University by her son, Dean S. Edmonds, Jr. First editions
of the Pensées and
the Lettres à un Provincial
highlight the collection, which also consists of contemporary
printings of Pascal’s other works, the various collected
editions, and early translations and secondary sources. |
