The daughter of actors, Tyne Daly took to the family profession at an early age. The exhibition, Tyne Daly On Stage!, begins with her graduation from Manhattan's American Musical and Dramatic Academy; her first Equity card; and her first review in the New York Times for her Broadway debut in the revival of George S. Kaufman's The Butter and Egg Man (it was positive). Following her performance as the first woman partner to Clint Eastwood's "Dirty Harry" Callahan in The Enforcer (1976), Ms. Daly would alternate between work in television and work in the theatre. The ever-popular series, Cagney and Lacey, is represented through a variety of photographs and annotated script pages. Her Tony Award winning performance as Mama Rose in the 1989 Broadway revival of Gypsy is represented trough photographs, script pages, director's notes from Arthur Laurents, and fan mail from such luminaries as Joel Grey, Nora Ephron, Helen Hayes, Barbara Walters, Neiul Simon and Angela Lansbury, to mention a few. Her return to weekly television in both Christy (1994) and Judging Amy (1999) are documented both through photographs and script pages. In February 2006, Ms. Daly returned to the Broadway stage in the premiere of Rabbit Hole which earned her a Tony nomination.
Tyne Daly On Stage! presents the range of Ms. Daly's vitality and versatility as a performer of the first level, from the concert stage to the Broadway stage; from the classic drama to the television drama.
The exhibition will run through September 2006. Exhibition hours are Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
