Gordon Rogoff: 50 Years of Theatre

This exhibition focuses on the life and career of distinguished theatre critic and educator Gordon Rogoff. The exhibition traces his career from his earliest days at London's Central School of Speech and Drama and the creation of ENCORE magazine through his administrative tenure with the Actors Studio in New York to his critical writing for such publications as the Village Voice. Highlights include a selection of lively correspondence from Irish playwright Sean O'Casey and Brecht translator and interpreter Eric Bentley. Material related to Rogoff's published anthologies of criticism, THEATRE IS NOT SAFE and VANISHING ACTS is also included.
