Research Interests & Fieldwork

My dissertation is a microhistorical study of a second and third generation Irish American family who lived outside of Boston at the turn of the twentieth century. By using their discarded household objects, my research seeks to understand the impact of geographical context and generational status on transnational relationships and Americanization strategies. Additionally, I am interested in public and community archaeology and currently direct an archaeological field school in Milton, Massachusetts for high school students.
