Archaeology Seminar Series: “Stone Tools Can Drive You Crazy: Possible Pre-Clovis Sites in Southern California?”

  • Starts: 12:20 pm on Wednesday, March 18, 2020
  • Ends: 1:20 pm on Wednesday, March 18, 2020
Professor Curtis Runnels (Boston University). Stone tools locked in desert pavements in the Mojave Desert of Southern California (San Diego County) are thought to be older than the Clovis, long accepted as the earliest archaeological culture in North America. Dating these sites is very difficult, and our research team uses new evidence and techniques to determine if these pavements are indeed Pre-Clovis sites.
