Informal Discussion: "Preservation of Cultural Heritage & Artifacts"
- Starts: 3:00 pm on Friday, May 10, 2013
- Ends: 5:00 pm on Friday, May 10, 2013
An upcoming delegation of cultural heritage specialists from Mongolia who will be visiting BU later this week. They are visiting the U.S. under the auspices of the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program with a focus on “Preservation of Cultural Heritage & Artifacts”. The Department of State has outlined the following specific objectives for their visit to the U.S.: To learn about methods of preservation and restoration of cultural and historical artifacts; To explore best practices at leading archeological institutions and relevant government agencies; To develop effective government policies to support promotion of cultural heritage. It would be terrific if you would be willing to join our discussion on Friday, which will also include two State Dept. translators and several people from the AIA. It will be a rather unique opportunity for our faculty and our students to learn about archaeological cultural heritage training and practice in Mongolia, and to let our visitors know about aspects of this field both at BU and more generally in the West. Perhaps some interesting possible collaborations or other research or internship opportunities might come up during our discussion?
