Mali

The Republic of Mali is located in western Africa, southwest of Algeria, and is home to approximately eleven million people. The people of Mali elect a president every five years by popular vote. The president-elect appoints a prime minister, and the prime minister appoints a Council of Ministers. President Amadou Toumani Toure has served as chief of state since June 8, 2002.
