Cape Verde

The Republic of Cape Verde is a compilation of islands located just off the coast of western Africa, and is home to four hundred thousand people. The people of Cape Verde elect a president every five years by popular vote. The president-elect appoints a Council of Misters and a prime minister, who was also nominated by the National Assembly. President Pedro Pires has served as chief of state since February 25, 2001.
