Botswana

The Republic of Botswana is located in southern Africa above South Africa and is home to almost 1.6 million people. The people of Botswana elect representatives to the National Assembly every five years by popular vote. The National Assembly elects a president every five years. The president-elect appoints a vice president and cabinet. President Festus Mogae has served as chief of state and head of government since April 1, 1998.
