APARC
hosts a conference entitled: "Integrating Africa into
the Global Economy: Have the Stakes Changed Since September
11th?"
The
Conference opened on September 24th at 5pm with a reception
at the Boston University School of Management located at 595
Commonwealth Avenue.This conference served to welcome our
first Balfour President-in-Residence, His Excellency,
President Kenneth David Kaunda, of Zambia. The conference
schedule was as follows:
September 25th:
8:45am: Opening Address by President Kaunda.
10:00am: Panel I, "The State of Africa and Globalization
since September 11th"
11:15am: Panel II, "Africa's Economic Security and U.S.
National Security"
12:30-2pm: Lunch
2:15pm: Panel III, "NEPAD: Africa's Answer to Globalization"

The
Impact of September 11 on the Economies of Africa
APARC's
first conference, originally scheduled for September 13-14,
was postponed in the wake of the terrorist attacks in the
United States. The conference will be rescheduled for mid-March
and the topic has been revised to focus on the economic impact
of the terrorist attacks on the economies of Africa. Dates,
times, places and panelists are expected to be finalized by
the first of the year.
