About
the Center
The
Structure of the Center
APARC
is designed to be a multidisciplinary, University-wide center
for policy analysis and formulation, and research on contemporary
Africa. Given its broad programmatic goals, the Center will
need its own facility, which will contain administrative offices
and faculty offices, lecture halls, a forum for public education,
and an exhibit area accessible to the general public.
In order to fulfill
its goal of becoming an international center for contemporary
thought and debate on Africa, the Center seeks to have vigorous
and interactive affiliations with at least one historically
African American university and several universities in Sub-Saharan
Africa.
The Center will
have an Advisory Board comprised of university faculty and
officers, and outside visitors made of up representatives
from the public and private sectors, academia, and the philanthropic
community.
The core staff
of the Center will include:
- The Director,
who will have the primary responsibility for charting the
strategic direction of the Center and fundraising
- The Associate
Director, who will be responsible for managing the day to
day operations of the Center
- An Archivist,
who will coordinate the collection of documents and other
materials for the Center's archives
- A Special Projects
Specialist, who will plan and coordinate special events
and other Center activities
- An Administrative
Assistant
- Secretarial
staff to provide support for administration and visiting
dignitaries.
